Chicagoween

Every year in October, we have Chicagoween!

Navy Fear
And one of the most popular places to go during this time is Navy Fear at Navy Pier. Yes, Navy Pier is very "touristy." In fact it is the top attraction in Illinois. Go figure. Still, it is a very fun place to go. I admit One thing to know -- go to the website and print out the coupon for $3 off per ticket. This is a great way for your family to get into the spirit & spookiness of Halloween. There are two different parts, the Demons of the Deep (mild for ages 8-12 and wild for 13 +) and Ghostly Gardens (for the younger set). Of course there's the requisite face painting, inflatable rides, and all the regular Navy Pier attractions. I usually prefer to be thrifty, but admit to taking guilty pleasures in events such as these. It's not the cost of the event itself per se, just all the stuff that always gets added on to the ticket price- food - parking ... wait save yourself some trouble on that last one and take the CTA. Navy Pier is well served by bus.

Introduction

To Blog or Not to Blog?

I have not yet found the one place where I can find all of the information that I find useful as a parent in Chicago. My hope is that this blog will provide other fellow Chicago parents with relevant information about schools, activities, and other useful stuff. While there are currently sites that provide such things, I often hear from other parents that it takes so much time and energy to find out what's going on around town or what the real scoop is on schools that it's hard to keep up.

I am a transplanted New Yorker (former resident of NYC and small town life upstate). Chicago is a great city in which to raise a family. I have lived here for five years now with two daughters, ages 6 and 2. I live in Chicago, not "Chicagoland." My hope is that this blog will help put information at Chicago parent's fingertips. If not yours, then hopefully mine!
